Right, Someone asked me how I smoke the other day. I didn't find it to be all that awful of a question
I have a zippo lighter, when I want a smoke, I light the lighter, with the cigarette touching the flame as I inhale. How do you all do it? matches? lighter? any special tricks?
Same here, although I just use a regular lighter. I usually cup the flame with my left hand, to block the wind and prevent the flame from breaking up. It works 95 percent of the time.
Same as post two, I tend to buy the cheep bick lighters and pry off the metal band so that I can light them easier.
Same as number two but I don't smoke anymore. I would put the cigerit wear the flame would come out, like right above it and then light the lighter. Or I would just use a candle if I had on lit. I've used matches but sometimes the cheep ones burns to fast. but i don't smoke anymore
I use a bick lighter. I just hold the end of the cigarette over where the flame comes out. zippos kick ass though, but you have to make sure they don't spark, because if they do, they're ouchy on the hands. lol

zippo's are so simple, and it's one less thing that you've got to pay attention to
I've never seen a Zippo, believe it or not. I use a bick like shark and do the same thing. I have a few lighters that are incredible. They don't have any flame. they just work with two double A batteries and are only for cigarettes. You put the cigarette in and pull the slider back. It somehow gets the cig lit and that's it. Problem is I lost the battery covers for them! I'll give a very nice bunch of points to anyone who can find me one of those. Btw, as a sidenote, I collect all sorts of lighters, mostly from the dollar store though I have a few more expensive ones. I love all the different designs etc. the only problem I have is in using the ones with the fluid that you can hear. they're not like a regular Bic. They usually have coloured light, from what I hear, and they're very very hot flames.
ug I think my room mate has one and it burned my fingar earlier, but i do the same as tiffinitsa
Actually, as per the lighters, I happen to miss that often. so I normally make use of the matches, you know. and even if I miss that, I don't care since it's not that much costlier here, you see.
Meanwhile, sometimes, if I don't have matches with me, and if I'm at home, and if I feel like smoking, this lazy will tare a piece of paper and fire that with my gas stove and fire my cigarette, you know. hahaha. quiet risky but I love taking risks, you see.
Raaj
lol raaj, I've done that as well
I cup the bick lighter and do it that way especially in the wind. I use to have a zippo but overfilled it, and well the fluid burned my leg. the won good thing about a zippo that I remember, is the wind didn't blow it out.
that's the only thing you liked about a zippo...?
i smoke exactly same as i did when i could see the end of the fag. i stick it in my mouth and flick the lighter on then bring it toward me while inhaling and you can just tell when the flame is on the fag.
i did however stick fag in backwards last night and lit the filter.
tip for smokers. if you have one of those fags that refuse to light just suck and blow, suck and blow, real fast and it lights. just dont suck too hard or youl end up swallowing the fag.
Cigars I think are somewhat more difficult, in that you really don't want so much a flame but a smolder.
If I'm not using a cedar plank or a match, I just turn the stogie in my mouth while applying quick flicks from the bick while turning, basically to get it burning all the way around the end
This is not a consideration, though, for a cigarette, a clove, or other rolled smokeable.
Anyone know if those battery-operated lighters are big enough for cigars? I usually smoke churchill-length, with a ring gauge of approx 48 to 52 - for those unfamiliar with the term. I could see the value of the battery-operated one in that you don't taste butane. With a cigarette, you usually don't taste that anyway I guess, but something that small is pretty quick to light.
And yeah, the cupped hand / firm puffs helps get things started ...
